Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) and John G. Kruse, |
Becoming one of many unforgettable experiences in my adventures with Jesus Christ and HIs Church, then Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger kindly agreed to take this picture and then give me his Apostolic Blessing. This was one of many experiences which became a foundation for Divine Mercy Network and it happened during one of my approximately ten trips to Rome. Like most, this trip took place while working with The Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception at The Shrine of Divine Mercy, Stockbridge, MA. The purpose of this particular trip with Fr. Seraphim Michalenko was to prepare for the coming Beatification of Sr. Faustina (April 1993). His Eminence was walking across St. Peter's Square when I caught site of him from several hundred yards away. I told the few people with me that I would see them later and then I ran to catch up with him. I probably scared the Cardinal pretty good ... but as soon as I caught my breath and told him I was from Detroit and knew his good friend Father John Hardon, the future Pope stopped to chat for a couple minutes. What a blessing! |
